Preoperative care for gynecological surgeries

Fast until a normal delivery. Or at least avoid heavy foods such as milk, liver and eggs.

In the case of cesarean section and hysterectomy, fast for 12 nights before the operation.

If you have nail polish, clean it.

Hair at the operation site should be shaved before delivery or cesarean section.

Empty the bladder (urine) before transferring to the delivery room.

Before going to the operating room, remove jewelry, metal objects, head clips, dentures, etc., and be sure to inform if you have a dental implant.

If you have a history of illness and a history of allergies (medication, food), inform the nurse and the treating physician.

Tell your doctor and nurse if you have a specific illness and are being treated, as your medication may need to be discontinued and replaced with new medications, but hand over your home remedies.

Have all the required medical records before the operation, including ultrasound, ECG, test results.

 

Postpartum care

Rinse the genital area with water each time you defecate and urinate from front to back and dry the area.

Rinse the suture area with rinsing serum

Change underwear and sanitary pads at short intervals and dry them in the sun or iron them after drying.

In case of urinary retention (no urination), see a doctor and it is generally considered in the first 2 hours after delivery and is monitored by staff at the time of hospitalization. Please inform colleagues if it occurs.

Get out of bed and move in the first 24 hours after delivery

 

Nutrition :

Adequate nutrition for the mother is a diet that requires nutrients such as protein (red and white meat, seafood, eggs, dairy products, legumes (carbohydrates (bread and rice), etc.), fats, vitamins and minerals. (Fruits and vegetables) Provide at least 8 to 12 glasses of fluids (water, natural fruit juices and foods such as soups, stews) in sufficient quantity. Consulting a nutritionist can help to have a balanced diet.

 

Post-cesarean care:

How to take a bath?

Sexual intercourse should be avoided for four to six weeks after surgery.

What is the level of activity after discharge?

If the abdomen is open, heavy activity should be avoided for up to six weeks. In laparoscopic cases, the patient is usually not given any rest and will return to work after a few days to a week.

Avoid heavy housework and sports such as weightlifting, running and strenuous walking that make breathing difficult.

Nutrition :

Avoid fatty foods such as beans, raw fruits, raw vegetables, industrial juices such as Sen H, etc. for 3 days.
